This paper presents an analysis, based on different texts by Javier Marías, of the history of the Kingdom of Redonda: a «kingdom by the sea», both real and fictitious, with more than one language but without subjects; a literary dynasty that is not transmitted by blood and whose king without sovereignty is no other, at present, than the very Marías himself.
