La construcción del espacio a través de la sombra en la arquitectura japonesa
Keywords:
shadow, dim light, light, Japanese architecture, Orient.Abstract
This article presents the complex entity that the shadow has in the oriental culture and in the architectural conception of the space. Shadow is not just the absence of light but a powerful tool with density, depth and colour to create attractive atmospheres. The construction of the inhabited shadows is based in three elements: the roof,
as a projected shadow, the filters, as an envelope, and the movement as choreography. Three contemporaneous architecture works, rooted in the Japanese tradition, show the different ways of building the space through shadow, the best ally of beauty.
