El concepte de fragilitat en la ciència de la infermeria
Abstract
In this article we highlight the importance of the concept of fragility in the nursing sciences. Fragility, which may be linked to aging or chronic diseases, refers to a situation in which a person has less ability to cope with the activities of daily life, and less physiological stress to deal with more extreme situations such as surgery. In the latter case, we stress the importance of nurse teams designing and implementing pre-surgical prehabilitation programs to improve the outcomes of surgery and to reduce complications in frail patients.
Key words: frailty, quality of life, functional capacity, surgery, prehabilitation
