This article addresses Foucault’s notion of biopower and refers to the concept of “biotechnopower”. This power, in the hands of biotechnology companies, is based on the economic interest of exploiting the information contained in DNA and its transition
to binary code for bioinformatics processing. The fact that all living beings have their genetic information inscribed in a single DNA molecule allows for the manipulation and insertion of fragments of the genome, which can take a neoliberal totalitarian drift. The philosophical solution is the care of oneself and others.
Keywords: biopower, biotechnopower, bioinformatics, DNA technologies, exploitation.
