Abstract

This article proposes a first approach to two recently published books, Seré un anciano hermoso en un gran país (2015) and La aurora cuando surge (2022) by Manuel Astur, contextualized in an intimate and non-ideological drift of contemporary literature. Taking as a starting point the enunciation of a generational indignation, this article proposes a journey through both “emotional essays” considering the tensions between the author’s confessional discourse and the Asturian landscape of his childhood. This study ultimately explores the contemporary problem of identity in crisis, and the search for a poetic solution linked to geographic space.
