Abstract

Environmental social movements have responded to the processes of touristification by advocating for the defence of the territory, which remains valid, while these processes become more complex and contradictory. Consequently, a new, holistic analysis of touristification and its challenges is needed. In this study we analyse the ideological changes in environmental social movements that defend territories facing touristification, particularly in the Balearic Islands, in order to invoke the debate on a postcapitalist perspective and generate a proposal for emancipatory thought and action.
