Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been prievously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor.
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word (or Opensource equivalent).
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines. The manuscript has preferably been formated according to the DER Template.
  • The submitted manuscript has been prepared for blind peer review. All references to and names of the authors have been removed from every parto of the manuscript and replaces with the word "Author".

  • DER will not edit submitted manuscripts for style or language, it is authors' responsibility. Also, reviewers may advise non acceptance of a manuscript if there are an unacceptable number of grammatical errors.

Author Guidelines

Aims and scope

The articles should focus on subjects related to the impact of ICT on education and new emergent forms of teaching and learning in digital environments. DER will consider research works as well as reviews and theoretical reviews.

DER will only consider original, unpublished manuscripts that have not been submitted for publication elsewhere. DER suggests to review the previous papers published by DER that can be related with the proposal.

Manuscripts admitted

  • Peer Review Articles: miscellaneous articles that have passed the double blind peer review process carried out by at least two experts.
  • Monographic articles: articles centered on a specific subjet emerged from an special Call for papers, coedited by a guest editor. Monopgraphic articles are also subjected to a doble blind peer review process.
  • Reviews: short articles about books, software or websides and PhD evaluated by the Editors of the journal.
  • Guest and Invited Articles: articles approved by the Editorial Board of the journal.

 

Manuscript submission

  • Authors need to register prior to submit a manuscript. Or if aldready registered, can simply log in and begin the process.
  • The papers, which must be unpublished, should be sent by this system. 
  • Manuscripts must be submitted in electrolic file format (.docx, .odt) and in English or Spanish. 
  • DER will not edit submitted manuscripts for style or language. Also, reviewers may advise non acceptance of a manuscript if there are an unacceptable number of grammatical errors. Format

  • The recommended extension of the text is within 4000-6000 words. 
  • First page must include:
    • Title page (English, Spanish and Catalan)
    • Abstract in English, Spanish and Catalan of a maximum of 200 words.
    • Keywords: a maximmum of 5 keywords in English, Spanish and Catalan.
  • Body of the article:
    • The manuscript should be devided into sections (introduction, methods, results, discussion and conclusions are recommended sections).
  • References must follow the latest publication manual of the American Psychological Association (APA).
    • Authors should not self-cite excessively.
  • Tables and figures should be embedded in the main manuscript file in high resolution.
  • Author's information (name and surname, position or academic affiliation, e-mail address and ORCID) must be included in the submission process but not in the main manuscript to guarantee blind review process.

Reviewing

  1. All the authors will receive notification of receipt of the work  (call for papers is open only during January and June).
  2. All the manuscripts are initialy evaluated by the editors. Authors of manuscripts rejected at this stage will be informed on February or July.
  3. At least 2 external referees are selected for each paper, according to their expertice, and evaluate the manuscript following a complete report. Language correction is not part of the peer review process.
  4. Final report to accept or reject the manuscript will be sent to the author no longer than 6 months after its reception. If changes are requested, the author must confirm if he/she is willing and in a position to make them. If there is no reply or the reply takes more than one month, the journal will consider that the changes are not accepted and the article will therefore be considered rejected.
  5. Editors are responsible for the final decision to accept of reject the article and reserve the right to publish the contributions in the issue which they consider most appropriate.

Publication
The editors of the journal reserve the right to publish the contributions in the issue which they consider most appropriate.
 
Those articles which are not published because it is felt they are not appropriate for the journal will be returned and the authors will be notified by e-mail (February or July).
