DUODA. Estudis de la Diferència Sexual

Biannual publication (April/October) of Duoda. Investigación de Mujeres. University of Barcelona.

DUODA is the six-monthly publication of the centre Duoda. Investigación de Mujeres of the University of Barcelona. It was founded in 1991 and until issue 30 of 2006 it was entitled Duoda. Journal of Feminist Studies.

DUODA is a scientific, university, bilingual (Spanish and Catalan) journal of feminist thought of a transdisciplinary nature. It publishes texts on history, philosophy, art, art history, law, literature, mysticism, psychology, pedagogy, politics, economics, etc.

It is one of the few European university journals that disseminates the key contributions of the authors of sexual difference thought in the Euro-American sphere.

The journal receives an annual grant from the Institut Català de les Dones of the Generalitat de Catalunya, grants from the Research Committee of the Faculty of Geography and History, from the UB's Vice-Rectorate for Institutional Relations, Communication and Language Policy and from the MICINN and AGAUR research projects currently underway at the Duoda centre.

Aims of the journal

The first objective of the journal is to publish the feminine writing of women researchers, university students or not, prose writers, poets and artists who know their mother tongue and know how to live, study, think and create while feeling the symbolism of the mother in order to make violence against women unthinkable. The aim is for the texts to investigate women's politics politically, i.e. taking into account and putting into practice the political figures invented by the feminist movement in the second half of the 20th century, such as female authority and freedom, the symbolism of the mother, the practice of peace, the disparity between women, the pedagogy of sexual difference, female pleasure itself, Love that comes before Justice, female writing, the end of patriarchy, the free expressions of being a woman in history, etc.

The second objective is to disseminate women's creation in the Euro-American university environment, the results of the research produced at the Duoda Centre and the studies of women's spaces with which the Duoda Centre maintains a political exchange relationship.

Target readership

As it is a transdisciplinary journal, it is aimed at readers interested in feminism, politics, thought, history and, in general, in women's culture, with an understanding of Spanish and/or Catalan. It pays special attention to those in the university environment (teaching staff and students) or in the professional world (in the fields of human, social and care sciences) who are sensitive to ways of naming the world that are free from patriarchy.

Open access policy

The journal provides immediate free access to content based on the principle that making research available to the public facilitates a broader, global exchange of knowledge.
