This article explores the fate of the POUM after 16 June 1937. It deals with the situation after the arrest of the eadership, with the broadening of the repression against the whole party and, especially, against their positions within the state (like organisms of the Generalitat, town councils, etc.) and above all within the army (dissolution of the Lenin Division). Within this context the POUM developed their clandestine activities and led intensive discussions about the political line in which old disagreements from before 16 June resurfaced. Another point deals with is the role the POUM played within the international independent left during that time, especially as an active part of the “London Bureau”. The article closes with the escape of their members in January 1939 when Catalonia was occupied.Downloads
