Abstract

This work focuses on the historical figure of Michael and Pedrola Alegre, militant of the POUM. It is an overview about the character: his social origins, his membership in the BOC and POUM; his participation in the uprising of 6th October 1934, in the fighting on 19 July 1936 and the Civil War; his death on the Aragon front and the tributes that he received afterwards. Then it is explained the recovery process of this character due to the discovery of the remains of the ancient nomenclator of Sant Miquel’s street in the Barceloneta (Barcelona) which was renamed in 1937 with his name and, finally, the neighborhood movement triggered.
