Taking the town of Luarca and his surroundings as an example, in this paper we present another view of how the Spanish Civil War was important in such areas located far from the front line. The little town of Luarca became a neuralgic center of the rear of the self-denominated national side during the fifteen months that the fighting lasted in the region (July 1936-October 1937). Based on the analysis of the material remains related to this conflict that still can be found in the municipality, we generate a historical discourse that incorporates these material evidences to create a broader and more accurate narrative of this turbulent recent past episode.
