Abstract

This article surveys the response of the Irish Government to the evacuation from Spain of the Irish subjects and the diplomatic staff of Saorstát Éireann at the beginning of Spanish Civil War. It also analyses the critic circumstances surrounding the Loreto Sisters’ evacuation, as well as the protection of the Tirso de Molina School and the Irish Legation in Madrid
