Abstract

The present paper gather two models of active shelters for fusiliers, also known as blockhouse, used by the republican army during the year 1937 in part of the positions located in the Pola de Gordón sector and the sub-sector of Boñar-Lillo. This type of construction was characterised by the melt of a series of defensive features from the Independence War and the colonial conflict of Rif War, which confer a singular and eclectically appearance, with reminiscent in the blueprints of the castles from the XV century. Throughout this article it is exposed the documentation from the archives related with these constructions and complemented with the information gathered by the analysis of the material remains, used mainly to understand their constructive process and their tactical disposition.
