The Civil War (1936-1939) has undoubtedly marked a before and after both in history and in Spanish culture. The military uprising would break Spain in half, becoming not only a war with its bloody battle fronts, but also a struggle to impose and exercise control of the rearguards through propaganda, and gain sympathy abroad. This article analyzes, in a synthetic way through a bibliographic review, the future of Spanish cinematography in both sides (the national and the republican), in addition to taking an approach to the contributions of the foreign film industry, at the time of win wills through film discourse.
