Reenacting the Spanish Civil War is an issue that continues to be highly sensitive to certain parts of society. Although it has the potential to spread an anti-militaristic social consciousness, many people still perceive it with skepticism and suspicion. When using historical reenacting as a tool, knowing both the common and the specific issues of different time periods helps out with maintaining awareness and avoiding potential controversies that might shatter the educational aspect of the activities. This article is a personal analysis of mine, a product of eight years as a dedicated reenactor in a multitude of events, and in contact with multiple associations.
