About the Journal
Focus and scope
Lectora: revista de dones i textualitat, founded in 1995, is a space for debate and the study of the intersections and shades between feminism and the various forms of textuality within culture. The journal was created to address the academic community and to offer a space for academic and critical debate on gender studies, feminism and queer theory, always in their relation to cultural criticism. The journal accepts manuscripts that either offer a critical reading of artistic or cultural representations -in literature, film, TV, music, art- or reflect on the theoretical corpus of feminism, gender studies and queer studies.
The journal has four sections:
Dossier: Monographic section. The editorial board appoints specialists to coordinate the section.
Varia: It includes articles on a variety of topics within the journal's scope.
Reviews: Reviews of recent scholarly publications (last 2 years) that contribute new ideas to the field of gender studies. The section does not accept proposals or submissions of completed reviews. As per the journal's code of ethics, and in order to avoid conflicts of interest and to preserve confidentiality, the selection of books to be reviewed and of the reviewers is carried out exclusively by the Editorial and Advisory Boards. Nonetheless, if you want to suggest a title for review, you can contact us at lectora@ub.edu.
Creation: Creative work produced by women in different genres and fields: literature, visual arts, comics, etc. The section does not accept submissions. If you want to suggest a feature, please contact lectora@ub.edu.
Peer review process
The Editorial Board makes a first selection of the texts that meet the requirements to be sent to external peer review (scope, stylesheet, length, etc.). The authors of the texts that are not selected for external peer review receive a reasoned communication by the editors of the journal.
In the second round, all texts go through an editorial review process of a minimum of two anonymous evaluations carried out by experts who are external to the journal (double blind peer review). After the review is complete, the authors receive an editorial decision with a brief report on the reasons for the acceptance or rejection of their text, sent by the editorial coordinators.
Book reviews and the creation section do not undergo external evaluation.
Publication frequency
Lectora: revista de dones i textualitat is published once a year.

Publication ethics and publication malpractice statement
Lectora: revista de dones i textualitat endorses and behaves in accordance with the codes of conduct and international standards established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Our Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement is based on COPE’s “Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing” and “Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors” available at http://publicationethics.org .
In particular, Lectora’s ethics statement binds authors, editors, and reviewers to the following:
Editors:
-Editors should evaluate manuscripts exclusively on the basis of their academic merit, and should not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, ethnic or social origins, religious beliefs and/or political opinions, membership of a national minority, property, birth, disability, age or sexual orientation of the authors.
-The selection of reviewers is based on their adequacy to the article to be reviewed; that is, the most appropriate reviewers are chosen depending on their specialty and on the discipline of the article to be reviewed.
-All information related to the articles submitted to the journal will remain in absolute confidentiality during the process of submission, review and publication. Lectora guarantees anonymity in the documents throughout the process of peer review, which is double-blind.
-The editors will not use unpublished information in their own research without the express written consent of the author. Editors will take reasonable responsive measures when ethical complaints have been presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper.
Authors:
-The authors should ensure that their work is entirely original and unpublished, and if the work and/or words of others have been used, this has been appropriately acknowledged. Plagiarism in all its forms, whether partial or total, constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
-When necessary, authors should make explicit in their articles the ethical responsibilities or conflicts of interest involved.
-The article should specify if the research conducted for the published material has been funded by any agency or research project.
-In order to get full status as the author of a published work, authors should: a) have contributed substantially to the conception and design of the work, or the analysis and interpretation of data ; b ) have contributed to the preparation of the document published , and c) be able to present in detail their own contribution to the project and to discuss the main aspects of the article. Any other person who has contributed to the work should be recognized in the acknowledgments section.
-Authors should have the rights or permission to publish images, photographs, videos and music.
-If the authors identify any error in an article once published, they should inform the journal so that the necessary corrections may be incorporated.
-Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Authors should not submit articles describing essentially the same research to more than one journal. The corresponding author should ensure that there is a full consensus of all co-authors in approving the final version of the paper and its submission for publication.
Reviewers:
-Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.
-Reviews should be conducted in a critical, objective, honest, and constructive manner, and should be anonymous (double-blind review). Any observations should be formulated clearly with supporting arguments, so that authors can use them for improving the paper.
-Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.
-Reviewers should inform the editorial team if they identify substantial similarities between the work reviewed and other published articles.
