This article argues that Rosalía de Castro’s reformulation of the stereotypical character of the muse in El caballero de las botas azules, as well as the sharp critique of the standards of literary authorship and of the writing profession of her time that the Galician author delivers therein, were directly influenced by the figure and work of Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda.
