Inspired by several research insights on the therapeutic value of poetic creation, in this autoethnographic text I share some reflections on the various ways in which poetry con-tributed to my emotional and, consequently, physical well-being during the months I un-derwent chemotherapy and mastectomy treatment, and on the changes that took place in my professional activity as of then. Punctuated with elements from the Medical Humanities and other areas such as the ethics of care and the methodology of poetic inquiry, the text examines four modes of relationship with poetry that have been since reinforced: poetry translation, creation, research and teaching.
