Abstract

The present text stems from a series of working papers concerning in/visibility, its aim being the revision of a category that has crisscrossed the trajectory of lesbian, gay and queer existence, as well as the theoretical approaches and lines of thought regarding the abovementioned subjectivities (and their own subjection). Visibility's association to existence has long been an axiom. However, visibility is not necessarily the best way to become visible or, immediately, the best political strategy to affirm our existence. The starting point for these working papers is the formulation of some hypothesis/discussion suggestions; next, I will continue my ongoing dialogue with the volume Manifiestos gays, lesbianos, queer. Testimonios de una lucha (1969-1994) [Gay, lesbian and queer manifestos. Bearing witness to a historical fight (1969-1994)], edited by Rafael M. Mérida. A brief testimony by Catalan writer Maria Mercè Marçal is included at the end.
