Information For Authors
Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting, or if already registered can simply log in and begin the submission process.
Submission preparation checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines and and the Universitat de Barcelona's style guide (https://www.ub.edu/cub/criteris.php).
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
Author guidelines
Languages of publication and originality
Articles can be written in Catalan, Spanish, Galician, Basque, English, French, Italian or Portuguese.
Articles must be original and should not be submitted simultaneously to other journals. LECTORA uses the plagiarism checker URKUND.
Articles are to be sent preferably in word or rtf.
Good practices in gender equality
Lectora: revista de dones i textualitat promotes good editorial practices for gender equality and therefore encourages the inclusion of the category "gender" in research and the use of inclusive language in terms of gender. Likewise, we encourage authors to include information as to whether the original data of the research takes gender into account, in order to allow for the identification of possible differences.
Preparing the text
Texts may be submitted to the sections "Varia" (essays on gender issues), "Reviews", "Creative Writing" and "Interviews". Texts adherte to the Universitat de Barcelona's style guide (https://www.ub.edu/cub/criteris.php).
Articles and interviews should not exceed 40.000 characters (spaces included); for simple reviews: from 5.000 to 6.000 characters (spaces included); for double reviews: from 7.000 to 8.000 characters (spaces included). Moreover, reviews will not include footnotes nor bibliographical references.
Footnotes: Solely bibliographic notes will not be accepted.
References within the text should include the author's surname, the year of publication and page number(s) within parenthesis. Example: (Young, 1995: 6).
Quotations exceeding five lines should appear in a new paragraph, separated from the text by a blank line before and after, without quotation marks.
Bibliography (only works cited in the text) should appear at the end of the article in alphabetical order. References should be cited as follows:
- Books: Surname, Name (year of publication), Title, City, publishing house.
Example: Bartrina, Francesca (2001), Caterina Albert, Víctor Català, La voluptuositat de l´escriptura, Vic, Eumo.
- Collective books: Surname, Name (ed.) (year of publication), Title, City, publishing house.

-Articles in periodical publications: Surname, Name (year of publication), "Title",Journal, number: page number(s).

-Citations from classical sources will follow, whenever possible, the stylesheet favored by the following dictionaries:

Articles and interviews should be accompanied by an 8-10 line abstract and 3-5 key words written in the text's language. They should also be accompanied by a translation, into Spanish and English (if the text is written in another language), of the title, abstract and key words.
If the text submitted includes images, the author will be in charge of securing the corresponding copyright and sending of the image(s) in a separate jpg file.
DOSSIER
Monograph. The editorial board appoints specialists to coordinate this section.

VARIA
It includes articles on a variety of topics within the journal's scope.

REVIEWS
Reviews of recent scholarly publications that contribute new ideas to the field of gender studies. The section does not accept submissions. If you would like to suggest a review, please contact us at lectora@ub.edu.
CREATION
Creative work produced by women in different genres and fields: literature, visual arts, comics, etc. The section does not accept submissions. If you would like to make a suggestion, please contact us at lectora@ub.edu.
Copyright Notice
The author retains ownership of the copyright in this article, unless the opposite is expressed, and all rights not expressly granted in this agreement, including the nonexclusive right to reproduce, distribute, perform, and display the article in print or electronic form, and grants, Lectora: revista de dones i textualitat the exclusive rights to print publication of the Article. The work will be simultaneously available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative Works license, by which the article must be credited to the author and the Journal be credited as first place of publication.
