The administration of royal patrimony at the Bailía General of Aragon, or General Bailiwick, fell on the General Bailiff , an offi cial appointed by the king, whose role it was to prepare reports on the economic aff airs of the king’s possessions in Aragon and submit them to the maestre racional, a royal offi cial of higher rank. Th is article deals with the tasks incumbent on the General Bailiff of Aragon and also pays attention to the other lower offi cials of that institution: a lieutenant, a collector of rents, a secretary or scribe and two porters. These offices tended to be the preserve of the ciudadanos of Zaragoza or urban patriciate.
