La situación militar en el reino de Valencia durante la Segunda Germanía (1693)
Keywords:
France, Valencian society, Second Germania, military context.Abstract
This article deals with the military context of Valencia’s Second Germania. It shows that most Valencians had to face two equally unfavorable factors: on the one hand, in the domestic front, the harsh seigneurial regime and the Crown’s continuous exactions because of warfare needs; on the other, in the outer front, a permanent military menace from Louis XIV’s France. Such situation helps to understand better the position of Valencian society when facing the new, forthcoming conflict, the War of Spanish Succession.
