This essay, on one hand, presents notions and practices of liberty and privilege in Italian cities in order to compare them with the Comunidades. On the other hand, it aims to explain the definition of the Comunidades as seditions, and explore some European legal treatises on seditions written in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
