Evaluation Process

The originals submitted to the journal Pedralbes undergo a confidential and anonymous evaluation system (double-blind peer review) with two external evaluations which consider the articles in terms of topic and methodology. The editorial board assesses these evaluations and sends them to the authors with provisional decision on their publication, as well as the indications and/or modifications to be made: corrections, counterarguments, and final decision on publication.

Peer review process

  1. When the journal Pedralbes receives a new original proposal, the editorial committee (director, secretary, and collaborators of the journal) will check, within a period of 30 days, whether the contribution received adheres to the journal's style guidelines and the content meets the requirements of originality, clarity, and relevance. If this is not the case, the author will be informed so that he/she can adapt the text to the style guidelines or redefine the content of the text.
  2. Once the article passes this first test and is accepted by the editorial board, the double-blind peer review phase begins. The text will be examined by two experts, one internal to the editorial or advisory board and the other external to the journal's bodies. The two reviewers will receive the same evaluation guidelines, which target: scientific interest; adequacy of the documentary sources and their use; bibliographical support; and clarity of writing.
  3. The author will be informed of the outcome of the evaluation within a maximum period of three months. This result may be: accepted without changes, rejected, or accepted with revisions. In the latter case, the author will receive the necessary indications and the relevant deadline to submit a new version of the work, which will be re-evaluated to verify that all the changes recommended by the evaluators have been incorporated.
  4. Once the correct version is received, the author receives a formal reasoned communication of the final editorial decision, wether it is accepted, accepted with further modifications or rejected.
  5. The editorial decision is communicated together with the reasons justifying it amd, if applicable, with the reviewer's instructructions.

Pedralbes is comitted to initiate and complete the evaluation process within a period of no more than six months, informing the author of the result and the status of the process.
