The origin and future of humanity are subjects developed in ancient myth, which science fiction picks up and makes work on a scientific background. Opposite to fantastic literature, science fiction usually gets its ground from verisimilitude of modern science to build parallel but feasible realities. The Sentinel and 2001: A Space Odyssey, works of Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick –in their short story, novel and film versions– operate as modern myth on the origin and future of men, taking the mentioned themes and others, such as the possibility of mind over body triumph. As an anthropogonic and collective fate myth, this works of science fiction construct an evolutionary map, with scientific proceeding and technological advances as foundational elements.
