Introduction
Sexual violence caused by a partner or a non-partner affects one in three women worldwide. In these cases, the accompaniment and care provided by the nursing staff is key to deal with these situations effectively.
Objective
To find out the actions carried out by the nursing staff in relation to the health care of the sexuality of the women who have been victims of sexual violence.
Methodology
A bibliographic review using PubMed, Cuiden and Cinahl databases.
Results
A total of thirteen articles have been selected: six original articles, three bibliographic reviews, two clinical practice guides and two theoretical reviews.
Conclusion
The most common sexual injuries observed in the genital area of the victims of sexual assault are lacerations, ecchymosis and abrasions. The aggression has consequences that affect the sexuality of the woman in different ways, such as gynecological problems and pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. For this reason, nurses need to carry out more interventions in the areas of prevention, detection and accompaniment whenever this type of violence is detected.
