The general framework of the accreditation system for higher education in Germany

The article provides an introduction to the different actors of the German accreditation system for higher education. It explains the role of the German Accreditation Council and the different Agencies. Furthermore it outlines the two different approaches of Programme- and System-Accreditation in Germany and explains the standards used for these procedures.
