This paper is based on Maria Zambrano’s article “Charlot o el histrionismo” and its connections with other philosophical critiques of Chaplin’s films, aiming to show the protection, the agony and the failure of the modern subject that is characterized in the clown Chaplin/ Charlot like a filmic mirror. Zambrano makes not only an interpretation of this character, but also a critique of the thought and construction of the identity.
