Abstract

Just as it had been in the first third of the 20th century, the main focus of the Catalan debate over the second large-scale domestic migration to Catalonia that occurred during Franco’s dictatorship continued to be a “fear of de-Catalanisation”. However, a study of the strategies for social integration and cultural adaptation pursued by migrant groups shows the relative crudeness of the prevailing positions in that debate.
