Abstract

This article is based on the career of Celestí Mas i Abad, a largely unknown figure but a relevant politician during Isabel II’s reign. The topic provides opportunities to highlight the major developments and main areas of research in the history of the political elite of the time. The paper also examines the most-recently opened areas of investigation in the field, as well as others barely touched upon and waiting to be explored in future historiographical studies.
