Keywords:
University, Francoism, Historiography professors, SpainAbstract
From the starting point of an analysis of the careers of the 132 professors of history at Spanish universities between 1939 and 1969, this article examines the role of historiography, its position in universities and also its political implication. The censorship entailed by the purge of 1939, the power exercised by professors, and the difficulties that occurred from the late sixties onwards to bring in a renewal of historiography are all analysed.Downloads
