Abstract

It considers the usefulness and the limits of compared history in terms of analysis of the “great European confrontation between democracy and dictatorship”, focusing on the contrast between the dynamics of Spain and Italy. It analyzes the deterioration of the Western democratic praxis in relation to the theory of “pre-Facism” and analyzes the limits of the democratization of Southern Europe by paying special attention to the Catalan case.
