Pere Bosch Gimpera: Deconstructing a Myth to Re-establish It
Keywords:
historiography, historic memory, Bosch Gimpera, Autonomous government of Catalunya, Second Republic, FrancoismAbstract
The figure of Pere Bosch Gimpera, due to his dual role as minister of the republican government of Catalonia and rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona during the Civil War, has acquired mythical status amongst the political classes, intellectual and universitarian sectors of Catalonia, even though he is less well known and appreciated in the rest of Spain. With the present text the intention is to offer a contrasted study of Bosch Gimpera in order to better understand the high morals of his rectifications, his commitment to the ideas of the University, the Republic and Catalonia, which he defended, as well as the meaning of his work.Downloads
