Abstract

This article is a first panoramic essay about Catalanism in all its different formats and shapes in the north of Catalonia. Since the XIX century, Catalan cultural and political awareness has suffered a transformation in this territory attached to France. Its trajectory is parallel to the vicisitude of the Principalit, but with a very different journey taking in account the projection of the various collectives in their own states and social and territorial realities. On the one hand, there has been shared evolution despite the differences that have ocassionally appeared, but on the other hand, the answers explaining the differences are still not very well understood in South Catalonia. This essay tries to bring to light some of the initial aspects for a more general understanding.
