This is an article which proposes a detailed circuit through the history of Catalan socialism from 1888 to the beginning of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). The object of its anlysis is to present the Socialist defeat of both the UGT (Unión General de Trabajadores) and the PSOE (Partido Socialista Obrero Español) among catalan manual workers. In fact, both organizations have increased its presence from the 1920’s on the basis of new services employee people. The article constitutes a challenging methodological approach to an old and never solved political discussion.Downloads
