Abstract

This paper examines the work Historia de Cataluña y de la Corona de Aragón (1860-1864) by Víctor Balaguer i Cirera (1824-1864) as a part of his intellectual career as a whole. The focus is on three major strands: a delineation of Balaguer’s ideological proposal amid a highly extensive oeuvre; an appraisal of his influences in the area of history, and an analysis of his intellectual evolution over time, with the common thread being his historiographical output
