The uprising of July 17, 1936 was followed, in the city of Córdoba, by the proclamation of the state of war. Brigadier General Ciriaco Cascajo Ruiz is positioned in favor of the coup plotters. Thousands of Cordovans die shot. Bruno Ibáñez Gálvez (“Don Bruno”) also participated in the genocide as head of Public Order. Ángel Cruz Rueda presides over the Public Instruction Purification Commission that will decimate Cordoba education.
To describe the extreme polarization of radicals and reactionaries that leads to nihilistic behaviors of annihilation of the opposite, we propose the idea of symbolic mutation; This would make it possible to understand the conduct of those responsible for the purge suffered by the maestro José González Cantillo in 1937. His cousin Eloy Vaquero Cantillo wrote the Saeta de las Ollerías, one of the most profound ¡Ay!, by way of supplication, for the lives of all those who had been left at the mercy of the rebels.
