The start of Beer production of beer in Madrid began after the arrival of the Habsburg dynasty to the Spanish throne in the early sixteenth century. Its implementation was carried by mainly through Flemish master brewers, to provide a Court which had arrived from territories where beer was the dominant alcoholic beverage majority. Later, around the mid-seventeenth century, the Madrid brewing industry happened to became regulated by the process introduction of the “estanco”, a formula procedure based on the grant exclusive concessions for the manufacture, trade and distribution of a product. Finally, in 1791 the Court suspended the Madrid’s privilege of Madrid under pressure from businessman and institutions from Santander, designed in order to be aimed at getting beer brewed in Santander into the Madrid market beer brewed in Santander. At that time, after a century- and- a- half without competition and now under a Bourbon dynasty largest more accustomed to drinking wine roots, the Madrid brewing industry was running under at minimum capacity, away below the boom peak it had characterized it during much of the reign of the Habsburg dynasty.
