The article explains the role played by noblewomen in seventeenth-century Catalonia in the transmission of titles and noble ownership. This process affected older aristocratic families from the sixteenth century (namelly the Cardonas) as well as those titles established after the year 1599. The article also studies the relationship and friendship among noblewomen, their marriages and finally the attitudes facing death.
