About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Tourism and Heritage Journal (THJ) is a refeered journal edited by Tourism, Culture and Territory Research Group (TURCiT) of CETT-UB. 

Its goal is to share academic knowledge about cultural and heritage tourism. The main research lines of THJ are Cultural Tourism, Educational Tourism, Media & Literary Tourism and Gastronomic Tourism. In this sense, the journal is open to receive articles coming from Heritage & Museum Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Cultural Geography, Cultural Studies, History, Gastronomic Studies with Tourism as mainstay. 

Tourism and Heritage Journal publishes a volume of eight articles annually

 

Peer Review Process

THJ is an international peer-reviewed journal. It publishes only original research articles.
 
All submission will be subjected to a previous screening by the Editor. If found suitable considering the scope of the journal, they will be peer reviewed by two independent, anonymous expert referees (double blind peer-review)..
 
1. The author submits the paper through the OJS platform of THJ's website. 
2. The Editorial Team registers the reception date of the paper.  
3. Two anonymus and independent referees will be choosen in order to evaluate the paper. The evaluation will be done based on a standard form. It is important to mention that this process will be carried out through the double blind peer-review system.
4. Once the evaluation is finished, referees will comunicate to the author the result, which can be:
  • Acceptance of the paper and the number of the journal where the paper will appear.
  • Suggestions and /or corrections by the referees are provided, if applies
  • Paper's rejection and the comunication of its reasons are told to the authors 
5. If corrections are needed, authors will have 10 days in order to send a new version of the paper. 
6. Once again, the Editorial Team will review the paper and decide if it is suitable for publishing. The decision will be told to authors. 
7. Once the paper is considered definite and suitable for publishing, the acceptance date is registered and thepublishing process begins. When the journal number is closed and published, the publishing date is added to the paper.
 

Open Access Policy

The journal strongly believes in the principle of making research available to society and providing a global and broad knowledge transfer.

In this sense, the journal provides free and open acces to the full texts of all its contents immediately upon publication.

Once published, authors can post a copy of their articles in his/their websites and in an Institutional or subject repository providing acknowledgment is given to the original source.

Article processing charge (APC)

There is no fee for submitting, processing or publishing articles in Tourism&Heritage Journal.

 

 

Ethic code and best practices

Tourism & Heritage Journal (THJ) embraces the Ethics and Best Practices Statement for Scientific Journals published by the University of Barcelona to ensure that any malpractice is avoided in the different editorial processes of the journal. Also, THJ is adhered to the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for journal publishers of the Committee on Public Ethics (COPE).

 

In addition, all the parties involved in the publishing process (authors, referees and publishers) are committed to know and respect the following principles:

 

1. All papers submitted to THJ must be original and must avoid unethical practices.

2. Unethical practices include all kind of plagiarism, data forgery, papers written by researchers who do not appear to be recognized as authors and other similar practices. For the definition of unethical practices, THJ is adhered to the document of the Committee on publication ethics (COPE) of Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for journal publishers.

3. THJ uses the URKUND tool to check the absence of plagiarism in the works sent.

4. If a malpractice is detected in any of the works, the Editorial Team will contact the authors to ask for explanations.

5. If the existence of an unethical practice is detected during the process of sending a paper, the process will be stopped until the authors give a clear justification. Only when the authors have clarified it, the review process will continue.

6. If the existence of unethical practice is detected once the paper has already been accepted or published, the Editorial Team will reject the paper and remove it from the journal's website.

7. When necessary, the Editorial Team must be informed of the existence of conflicts of interest in the paper.

8. The paper must indicate any financing from agencies or projects within the framework of which the study published has been carried out.

9. THJ promotes the use of non-sexist language. In this sense, all parts of the magazine are encouraged to follow the language recommendations of the Guide for the non-sexist use of language of the University of Barcelona.

10. The Editorial Team is engaged to select the referees for each paper only on the basis of their academic expertise.

11. Editorial decisions are based only on the scientific merit of the papers received.

12. Any errors that the authors identify in papers which are already published will be communicated to the Editorial Team in order to amend them.
