Abstract

Jordi Henrich has been one of the protagonists of the development of the public space of Barcelona over more than two decades, both from his activity as municipal architect, architect of the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona and his private professional activity. This article studies the characteristics of the public space - the ones it has and the ones it should have - through the gaze of this architect who creates the Barcelona that can be encompassed in the so-called “Barcelona Model”. It is organized as an interview that has been edited by the Editorial Board of the Journal to expand some references related to the development of the contents of the article.

Author Biographies

Jordi Henrich

Barcelona, 1957. Arquitecte per l’ETSAB 1982 (qualificació excel·lent) i Master in Architecture and Building Design per la Columbia University de Nova York 1985, especialització en edificis d’ús públic.

Participant a l’ILAUD (International Laboratory of Architecture and Urban Design) d’Urbino (1981), curs sobre arquitectura i espai públic urbà.

Arquitecte del Servei de Projectes Urbans de l’Ajuntament de Barcelona (1987-2004) i arquitecte del Servei de l’Espai Públic de l’Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (2004-2007).

Actualment treballa com a professional lliberal en projectes d’espais públics i edificis públics.

María Celeste Pereira

Arquitecta y Máster en DIseño Urbano por la Unviersitat de Barcelona. Becaria del Programa Nacional de Becas de Postgrado en el Exterior “Don Carlos Antonio López”, del Ministerio de Hacienda del Paraguay
