Several researches focusing on the historiographical analysis of terms of football have been published in the last years, however, we are still far from filling the very important gap in the study of the history of the Spanish language like the diachronic description of football lexicon. In this context, the aim of this study is to introduce the corpus of journalistic texts between 1968 and 1899 which constitute the Historical Dictionary of Terms of Football (dhtf) that we are developing. From the first lexical records documented during the 19th century in different journalistic texts, data show that La Vanguardia (general information newspaper) and Los Deportes (sports magazine) are the fundamental journalistic texts when it comes to the transmission of football lexicon.
