Literature is more than just books

Abstract

La literatura, més que llibres (Literature is more than just books) is the name of a website designed to support third- and fourth-year literature lessons in the classroom. The aim is to present the different stages, authors and works of Catalan literature attractively and work on them using practical activities that will enable students to approach them in an up-to-date way. The purpose of this study is to bring students into contact with a number of significant periods, authors and characters of Catalan literature that in certain ways are still quite relevant today. An important idea guiding this project was to connect the past to the present and get students to see the current relevance of many of the classics. The site is arranged chronologically into four courses each of which is divided into different topics. A selection –obviously debatable- of stages, authors and works has been made for each of the periods of Catalan literature, and suggestions given for working on them with various resources accessible via the Moodle course management system: PowerPoint presentations, links to websites, questionnaires, songs, videos, etc.
