Sobre l’èmfasi entonatiu de les formes ‘un’/’una’ en els titulars de Televisó de Catalunya

Abstract

The paper tackles two hypotheses, within the framework of a corpus of headlines from TV3 (TV Catalonia) and using the speech analysis method: the forms un/una are not the object of intonational emphasis if they are used as indefinite articles or quantifiers, and the forms un/una could be the object of intonational emphasis if they are used as cardinal numbers. First of all the concept of emphasis is explained and the forms un/una described. Following this is the analysis of the standardising curves of the headlines where such forms appear as indefinite articles, indefinite quantifiers and cardinal numbers. The relevant cases, with and without emphasis, are underlined.
