Abstract

In this article we put forward a protocol to make a phonetometry –an objective analysis and measuring system of the vocal range which enable us to learn, in quantitative terms, the vocal situation of a person in a particular point in time. First, we present how the phonetometry works as well as its origins and the development undergone by the instrument to date. Second, the new protocolo, devised to make the phonetometry, is described from two different aspects: the first one relating to the expert responsible for the measuring and the second one relating to the person measured. Finally, the main applications of the phonetometry in the field of music and music teaching, in the voice assessment and diagnosis, and in the spoken voice training are included.
