Abstract

This essay is a non-academic approach to the development of Patasdepeixe publishing house in its first decade of activity (2008-2019). Patasdepeixe begun its catalogue with three foundational premises: it would be a publishing house publishing translated texts; it would publish only in Galician; and it would be fully financially independent (that is depending only on the book sales, without subsidies from the Galician regional government). The essay analyses the catalogue of 1000 titles of Patasdepeixe from two main points of view: the formal aspect of the book, and the authorship. It also deals with the analysis of the contents of the catalogue from a feminism approach. By these means, the paper tangentially shows the reality of the publishing sector in Galicia in terms of gender and role allocation, in order to better understand the current state of this cultural industry in this language.
