The aim of this project is to show an overview of the female
characters of the Italian comics that have been published in Spain.
Since its inception, the history of Italian fumetti has offered us a
wide variety of women of all ages and in different roles: from the
heroine, the villainess or the housewife to the innocent damsel,
the radical feminist or the sexy bomb. Many are the archetypes
that make up a wide range of female stereotypes in the comic
world and each of them finds its explanation in the sociological
and analytical foundations of mass culture. We will see how they
have appeared in Spain and how have been perceived among the
critics and readers.
