The 20th of June, 2016 was held in Genoa, in the Aula Magna of the University of Genoa, the international conference Architecture and Public Art after 1945, curated by Paola Valenti, researcher and professor of contemporary art history and contemporary architecture at the DIRAAS (Department of Italian Studies, Romance Philology, Classical Antiquity Studies, Arts and Entertainment) of the School of Humanities, and by Giovanna Franco and Stefano Francesco Musso, professors at the DSA (Department of Architecture and Design) of the Polytechnic School of the University of Genoa .
The conference has drawn the attention of many subjects – such as cultural operators, administrators, architects and artists – that have the responsibility for the territory management and for the foreshadowing of future arrangements, and offered to scholars, researchers and the public the opportunity to learn about an architectural and artistic heritage, which is mainly a little-known or controversial subject of assessments and, simultaneously, to reflect on its value and its historical meaning and identity.
