This paper analyses and describes the intonation model of two famous Catalan television presenters of current affairs programmes (interviews and chats), Jaume Barberà and Josep Cuní. The research is based on the Melodic Analysis of Speech method and has been carried out using mainly the Praat voice analysis and synthesis application, as well as the SPSS program to verify significance. The characteristics that both presenters have in common have been described as have those in which they differ and it has been found that in their speech there are significant differences in body of the contour. Barberà marks almost all of the tonic syllables of words in the contour with high rises, whereas Cuní marks fewer words, also on the tonic, has more discrete tonal rises. With regard to the use of melodic patterns and features, typical of Catalan in spontaneous speech, the presenters only use some and in a recurrent way, giving a characteristic rhythm to their speech.References
