A piece of literary work that is lucky to receive an award is usuallyassociated with great international dissemination, so that an author or atranslator can experience significant growth of his/her visibility andsocial prestige thanks to the distinction conferred by a prestigious award.The aim of this paper is to analyse the impact of one of the mostimportant awards within the field of translation in Spain, namely the“National Award for a Translator’s Work”. Close attention is paid to themotivation of the jury and the profile of the winning translators whoseworks have been consolidated thanks to this award.Downloads
